Being & Belonging

Mental Health & Postpartum Body Support

At OT in Bloom, we offer holistic occupational therapy designed to support both the mental and physical recovery during the postpartum period.

Being & Belonging provides a safe and compassionate space for mothers to process their experience, work through any trauma, and find meaning in their journey.

Our perinatal mental health support is designed to empower you through every stage of your journey. Whether you're feeling disconnected, navigating postnatal anxiety or depression, or simply needing a safe space to be heard, our trauma-informed and compassionate occupational therapy approach helps you reconnect with your sense of self. We focus on emotional regulation, self-identity, and the mind-body connection to support your participation in meaningful daily roles and routines.

In addition to emotional wellbeing, we address physical recovery through gentle, targeted soft tissue techniques aimed at reducing discomfort and restoring function in areas impacted by pregnancy and birth—such as the pelvis, abdomen, and back. These interventions support healing, posture, and mobility to enable engagement in daily tasks and caregiving activities.

Pelvic health is also a key focus, with occupational therapy support for bladder, bowel, and sexual function, as well as core reactivation to promote foundational strength, stability, and return to valued occupations postpartum.

The Being & Belonging service is tailored to your individual needs to reconnect and ultimately help you come home to yourself in a way that honours your postpartum experience and recovery. Learning to be and to belong within yourself is a vital part of the rite of passage into motherhood. This work supports that process with compassion, presence, and practices that meet you exactly where you are.

Doing & Becoming

Adjustment to Motherhood & Daily Parenting Support

The Doing & Becoming service is an occupational therapy-led offering designed to support mothers through the complex transition of matrescence.

This service addresses both the psychosocial and functional dimensions of motherhood, with a focus on promoting wellbeing, restoring occupational balance, and supporting meaningful engagement in new and evolving roles.

Grounded in occupational therapy principles, we help mothers navigate shifts in identity, daily routines, and occupational roles as they adapt to life with a newborn or young baby. Therapy may include structured guidance or exploratory support around infant care routines—such as sleep, settling, and breastfeeding—and how these routines can be integrated into broader life demands including work, home management, and self-care.

Recognising the cognitive and sensory challenges that can emerge in early motherhood, we also provide support for sensory modulation, executive functioning, and routine-building. These strategies help manage sensory overload, mental fatigue, and emotional stress, enhancing mothers’ ability to participate fully and meaningfully in everyday life.

Our approach is holistic, trauma-informed, and strengths-based—acknowledging the interconnectedness of physical energy, mental health, and emotional wellbeing. We work collaboratively to foster a grounded, authentic parenting experience that aligns with your values and sense of self, rather than societal pressures or idealized expectations.

Through reflective therapeutic conversations and functional support, mothers are empowered to engage in the "doing" of motherhood—those everyday tasks and caregiving roles—while also exploring the "becoming": rediscovering who they are in this new phase of life. The goal is to support a confident, compassionate, and sustainable transition into motherhood that honours both your needs and your evolving identity.

Motherhood is not a role to be played, but a dance with life itself —embracing the flow, the ebb, and the endless transformation.
