-Informed Occupational Therapy
Ashlee Novy is an Occupational Therapist with a rich background in suicide prevention, mental health, and brain injury rehabilitation, bringing deep empathy, clinical insight, and a trauma-informed lens to her practice.
With 13 years of experience walking alongside individuals through some of life’s most complex challenges, Ashlee now focuses her care on supporting women in postpartum recovery and navigating matrescence. Drawing on a strong foundation of evidence-based therapy, Ashlee comes with a breadth of experience both professional and personal.
Personal
Ashlee identifies as she/her, a wife, a daughter, a sister and a mother of three sons. She has experienced the highs and lows of motherhood with an understanding of the unrealistic cultural and social expectations of today. Ashlee is passionate about supporting mothers in reclaiming their identity and authentic imperfect parenting, while building systemic awareness to the daily challenges placed on mothers.
Professional
Ashlee has advanced her skill set in perinatal and infant mental health, with further evidence-based learning in settling infants, supporting sleep and breastfeeding. She has also received training in soft tissue release techniques to support holistic treatment of pregnant and postpartum bodies from the Institute for Birth Healing and from Holistic Pelvic Care and Energy TM, both training from progressive Pelvic Physiotherapists from the USA.
These therapy advances offer a unique approach to assessing and treating the whole person, as becoming a mother can be a transformative time impacting each and every aspect of our sense of self.
Ashlee welcomes those individuals with mild- moderate challenges in their postpartum, as well as other individuals with more complex mental health or neurological challenges impacting their experience of mothering.
Ashlee is passionate about the becoming mother, as she feels this is a profound time in one’s life, where self-discovery meets new purpose which can echo through generations to come.
Matresence, the developmental process of mother-becoming, is a transformative phenomenon involving a complex interplay of biological, psychological, social, cultural, and political changes over time.
